I would love to know if Minnie’s parents are still alive? If not, when did they join her? Also, wasn’t her life worthy of a movie? I know that her husband said that some moments would always be kept private. She was a beautiful angel. I would love to see more footage of her, epecially her singing on the Tonight Show.
As I am a chilean guy, I don’t know if her parents remain alive. I absolutely agree with you about the movie! I’ve always thought that us, as minnie fans, should start a campaign or something. Her life would make an excellent plot for a movie (I can imagine Maya portraying her mom…Or maybe Chantee Moore!…). I would also love to see more footage of her. I search EVERYDAY on the net for new videos!.
Thanks for visiting Peace!
So grateful to happen upon this site. Last week I learned that Maya Rudolph was Minnie and Robert Rudolph’s daughter and began to research information on Minnie and her family. I absolutely love Minnie Riperton! As a little girl I would sit and listen to her Perfect Angel and Stevie Wonder’s Songs in the Key of Life albums over and over… I’m with you all on the movie! Let’s try to locate her husband and start there. From the little bit of research I’ve done, he is the owner of a publishing company. Perhaps you could try to reach out to him. I will register for this site and would love to be updated on any developments. It’s wonderful to know that others appreciate Minnie’s extremely rare and God-given talent. She is missed but certainly not forgotten.
Hi! And thanks SO much for your nice comments! I’m soo grateful that you enjoy the site!
I’ve been trying to contact Richard FOREVER! And I just can’t get his e-mail address or anything. Let’s keep in touch!! Peace!!
I am a fan of minnie. A special friend turn me on to loving you, and i was hooked. Have all of her music, had to reorder everything, do to theft, but i did get them all, on vinyl no less. I think the movie is a great idea and it would be great if they would release her videos on a dvd. Enjoy the site, and hope more pics are posted. I put minnie’s music on when i go to bed at night, like listiening to a lullabye, very soothing. Thank you for posting. Betty Ward.
Does not Maya….make her momma proud? I had no idea who she was: and then during an SNL skit she really showed some amazing range and I said to myself “there’s more here than we know.”
I graduated the year her momma died. And I SWEAR……I haven’t thought of Minnie much: but when I heard MAYA…I knew there could only be one source. She had an amazing vocal range….God Bless…should I see Maya in Brentwood, I’ll try to control myself.
Minnie was truly an beautiful angel, with a beautiful family, I was a fan long before her death and I’m still a fan till this day, nothin’ beats ole’ skool music.rest in peace forever Minnie!!!
I am a relative, Minnie’s parents were Dan and Thelma Ripton, south side chicago, they BOTH outlived her to a very old age…I sat in their living room on Minnie’s knee many times……………so sad! What memories this site brings back for me! Her husband was and is a music producer and musician, and played in her gigs and produced some of her work as well. Uncle Dick, or Dick Rudolph, Maya’s father.Minnie had several sisters and brother. She and Dick loved, lived and worked together. At one point in the recent past his company was called dickiebird productions and he produced music for movies, as well as he produced for the songstress Tina Marie, who also died pretty recently.

I always loved the end of Loving you when she repeated her daughters name, Maya Maya Maya Maya when they did the Mothers day tribute on SNL and you saw her combing Maya s hair the tears could not be stopped it was amazing.
I knew Minnie, Dick, and Marc in Gainesville, FL. She sang on some radio commercials produced and recorded by Dick in their living room for our natural food store, Our Daily Bread. Later I saw them in LA. Marc insisted on being called Ringo and Maya had just been born. I held her as an infant. Sweet times.
A friend just called to say he caught a BET special UNSUNG which focused on Minnie Riperton. He was moved to call me and we reminisced about the joy her music and all the musicians who worked with her.
I was an undergrad studying in the library when I found out she had died. I closed my book and just cried. On the way back to my dorm room I could hear Minnie’s voice coming from the dorm windows. Everyone seemed to be playing her records. I still feel a bit of sadness to this day.
I felt just the same when I found out she was dead. I started listening to her music about 7 years ago, and I remember reading her bio and getting sad…so sad.
This is actually a picture of Marc Rudolph, Maya Rudolph, and Minnie Riperton-Rudolph.
omg i made a mistake!

Is that the same Dick Rudolph who went to Miami Beach High?
He used to live down the street from me on Bay Harbor Islands. He would have graduated high school in 1964,
My interest was prompted by watching Maya host SNL last night. She is so talented, so funny!
